CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The Journalism Studies Association of the Philippines, Inc. (JSAP) is inviting journalism educators, students and media practitioners, to submit abstracts for the JSAP National Conference 2023 on July 7 and 8 .

This year’s theme, “Digital Journalism and Cyber Security ” focuses on how the rapid digitalization has affected the journalism profession and journalism education. Cyber security has become essential for journalists and journalism educators around the world .Everyone in the industry has the responsibility to make cyber security awareness a fixture in newsrooms and classrooms.

The papers can focus on the following topics:

• Digital Journalism and Cyber Security/Safety
• Journalism Education and Cyber Security/Safety
• History of the press/media institutions
• Journalists/media practitioners and the pandemic /new endemic
• Reporting on Health and Science/ Information Technology
• New Media/Social Media/emerging News Media
• Disinformation and Misinformation
• Media and the May 2022 Elections and the first year of PBBM
• Photojournalism/visual narratives
• Other topics related to journalism and journalism education

JSAP’s Second General Assembly

JSAP Inc.’s Second General Assembly
was held on 17 January 2023.

Dr. Georgina Encanto, former Dean of the UP College of Mass Communication was awarded a JSAP Lifetime Honorary Membership by the JSAP Board of Trustees. Dr. Encanto is the second person given such honor. The first was Dr. Crispin Maslog, the first Filipino with a PhD in Mass Communication.
